Cuckoo House Extension in Bearsden

This large house extension in Bearsden conservation area completely transformed the clients existing brick 1980’s house. The original house sat within the Victorian conservation area but was low and set well back from the street.¬†We designed an extension which resolved three key issues:

  • by extending by building to the front with a three storey extension we improved the appearance so that it now is more ‘in keeping’ with the conservation area
  • by using a ‘drawbridge’ to access the house we created a garage of the lowest floor
  • by using the internal stairs to form a feature gallery we linked all parts of the original house to the new extension

The house extension is built in natural stone below a natural slate roof. Network Five has also since extended the house substantially at the rear with the formation of a garden room.
